NSR is a Specialist Status School Project set up by some Specialist status Ambassadors. They were posed a challenge, how could they promote Media and technology arts in a creative and educational way whilst still making it fun for the students. Then the idea came and NSR was born.
The Specialist Status School Ambassadors drew up a business case including budgets and predicted costs before being given the go ahead. The students then put in place the technology needed to set up the radio station and began recruiting other students to work on the project. This enables students to experience how a radio station is run and how shows are produced.
NSR is setting the benchmark in its industry, offering the first School “Radio” in North Somerset. Shows are recorded throughout lunchtimes and after-school in the form of podcasts which are then posted onto the radio website for access by students in the region.
